Like the look of that set up. Going to build some tomorrow night after work. My daughter has been coming out with me since about 4. I pull her in a sled when I have some areas not to far off the road. She loves catching rats and marten. Had her trying to hold up Sumer beaver and a good sized badger last winter. I have two girls 6-2 and had a son born in oct so my skinning crew will be already here in a few years.

I prep them by putting bird seed in them and leave them out by the shed in the summer for the mice to leave there sent smell. Then i catch them for bait. Seems to work. I have two kids, my son Randy is 31 and my daughter Anita is 27. They both trap with me some times. Anita does not like the sinking feeling in the mud on some of the big beaver swamps. Randy is a bull at 6'3" with a mens 15 shoe. Dave

Pick up a big rat and nice mink today after my daughter got home from school. Nothing has been messing with my K9 sets but weather is moving in so I am hoping. Pics to come. Both furs were a little blue but not that bad. Hoping for more of the same in the morning.

One more mink and a nice sized red today. Going to get some sets out this afternoon. Kids are have a great time seeing the catches. One of my fox sets something dug up my trap and stole the bait. Got a surprise for it next time. I think this is going to turn into a journal for the season if it's ok with the others on here.

Had one pull out on my K9 sets. Picked up 1.5 rats( mink got one of the them and just left the tail ). The hides are looking good just a slight blue color. Put a few more sets and freshened up all my K9 sets. It's thundering right now and calling for snow tonight so hoping the critters move around. Still trying to figure out how to post picks, thinking it's my phone that won't let me.

Instead of using the quick reply box click on the reply button. You should see a box that says 'attachments' click on it and select file. If your phone doesn't show attachment button then you probably can't do it this way on your phone. if you don't have a regular computer you can send pics to via email or usb cord then you could always do photo bucket. 1) Download all your pictures to photo bucket, 2) use the reply button as well and look for the button that looks like a picture (6th one over from the smiley face button) click on this button it will pop up a box wanting an URL and then move onto step 3, 3) Open photo bucket click on picture your wanting to show. on the right hand side of the picture you should see a row of links called share links. use the DIRECT link click on the link copy it over to the spot on here that you have open from the previous step. put it in for the URL and then click enter. 4) your picture should now be visible. let me know if this helps.

I am going to try and get my computer fixed this week so hopefully I can post some pics. Picked up two more mink and a coon this morning. Got them all put up and the mink are looking real good , the coon had a little blue but not bad. The big buck mink stretched out to 31 inches from tip of his nose to tip of tail. Going to start beaver trapping next week and I will get out some more K9 sets out and my marten line in.

Marten opens on Saturday and tomorrow is my last day of work till around the 20th of November. Going to hit it hard and heavy for K9s marten and beaver till I start back up at my winter job. I will still run a line or two just won't cover as much ground. We need some snow so I can get the sled out and get to my areas way off the beaten path. Still picking up some mink and just set out some more traps for coon and fox. Wish we had the rats here like other places but still catch a few here and there. Hope every one out there a good and safe season. Jon

I think marten is my favorite critter to trap. Really enjoy it when we get lots of snow and I can jump on the sled and check without ever seeing anyone about. What part of the state are you in? If you deside you and your pops want to cach some hit me up. We don't have a ton around but I get a few every year. Use to have way more till they got up there in price and everyone desided to trap here. I only use cubby sets hung 3-4 ft up a tree to not target females and move locations once I catch 5-6 in a spot. I have about 6 different areas I move around so not to hit the population to hard. I am thinking real hard about heading south of here an hour or so and hit the rats hard for a week or more and wait till wolf opens and run both marten and wolf at the same time. Just cut some wolf tracks today right behind my house but we need some snow to find them easier. Need to do some logistics and then deside what to do.
