Sounds good. Twin is not to far from me. Bout 3-4 hours. It's going to be a long night since I picked up 3 coons and 1 beaver today. I am slow when it comes to fleshing and getting them in the boards. Can't wait for tomorrow and getting more steel out.

I work on catching them as fast as i can and skin them and toss in freezer. When the catch starts to slow down them i pull some out of the freezer and flesh and stretch as time permits. Fleshing and stretching takes a lot of time and i wind up trying to hurry and not doing the best job i can.
That way they they are as fresh as the day i caught them when they are fleshed, stretched and dried. I Vacuum Pack all my fur and use the bags over and over until they are to small to put rats in even year after year. Fur will last years in the freezer that way and no worries of freezer burn or lost fur. Just how i have been doing it for years.
when you are getting 5-10 beavers or more a day and fox, coon, and others, you have no time time flesh and stretch, Only skinning!!! When you get done your arms are sore and fleshing and stretching is just not in the picture any more. Dave

I ended up freezing the ones from last night since it got late and I really don't have much for coon boards. The daughter and I got 15 cubbies plus some coyote/fox sets in. The weather turned nasty with lightning and heavy rain but we were able to get the boat in and picked up a nice large coon. Going to get my beaver sets in tomorrow and what ever else I can.

Thank you sir. I never see that much coon sign up here and didn't really think I would be targeting them but finding new areas that hold a few. I got a bunch of patterns from Sullavans when they were closing up shop. Now just need to get them cut out. Got a little dusting of snow and it's still coming down so hoping for some good checks today.

Got in every beaver trap I own plus lots of rat/ mink sets. So hoping to see what happens tomorrow. I still have lots of river all on privet land to check out. Went and checked my marten lines and first check real nice large male. Headed up to my second line saw a truck driving real slow in the area I had sets in. Got to my last two stops and find someone else placed a set near the road but missed my sets then on my last stop both cubbies gone and a new set right off the road. Going to call the DNR and go have a look around. Can't stand stinking thieves.

I always write down the plate # when vehicles are in my area just in case. That can help a lot if you need to get ahold of the law for some reason. Dave

Pulled all my land sets on public except for a few marten cubbies way up. Started targeting beaver and rat on last Sat. So for with 4 checks I have picked up 9 beaver and 9 or ten rats that the mink haven't got. Picked up two big ones ( for this area ) 56 lbs and 54 lbs. So far this is my best season yet. Best thing is my oldes daughter has been with me whenever she is not in schoole. Still don't have a computer but working on it so I can get some pics up.

Jmack, you are doing very well. I just pulled all my sets so i can get caught up on trap setters and move to a new location. Doing Ok on rats, low on every thing else so far. Not a good year here for me. A lot of new trappers competing around here this year. Dave

There seems to be a few new guys trapping here also. I think they hit out marten real hard last year and the numbers are way down. I have picked up one and a buddy had three so far. I am real happy how I am doing and the best part is being able to take the kid with me right now. I am going to check on Sat and if it's dropped off start moving sets up river. I found three more dams with lots of sign today while out checking and scouting my next moves. I know there are still more beavers were I am at now but they seem to be wise to my sets so give them some time and see what happens next. Hope you get all caught up on your setters and are able to get your line moved. If I do ok at auction this year I am going to try and pick up a clp doz MB650s so I will be getting a hold if you about your setters. The Gov trapper that used to be here had a set if yours and let my play with them and they sure make life a lot easier for sure. Jon

Jon, Just give me a shout when your ready. Its better to befriend the new trappers, they will have more respect for you and leave your stuff alone I have found. I love to take the grandson when mom will let me, I am working on her also, Let her skin her first deer the other day. PD called me to pick up a road kill. Could not find any body that wanted it at 10:00 at night. So next Day, it went in my freezer and the game warden dropped off a tag. Took my daughter for ever to skin it, but she did a good job. Then I had to let my grandson skin a beaver. I was very impressed, no holes at all. Way to go Tom, Good Job. Thanks Dave

Think my water line is about done for the season. I still have a lot of river to try and get beaver but it froze over night and it's going to be around -30 tonight. I busted ice and pulled all my rat sets and still have a few beaver traps out but not expecting much unless it warms up some. Wolf season opens in a few days and I have been finding tracks so hoping this will be my year for one. Trying for an elk right now so as soon as I can find one going to get out the K9 traps and see what happens. I pulled all my marten traps since I only caught one ( did have a few sprung traps that I am thinking someone else checked for me). I will get them back up in a new area once I can ride the snowmobile. Jon

WOW -30 all ready, a little early for that isn't it. I hope I do not see that for a while. I need to get some more sets out here. Pick up a nice red fox today. It hit 60+ today. But they said it will turn cold here soon. No water sets out right now. Dave

I wasn't ready for it to drop the way it did. Think the high for today was around 3 and not looking much better tomorrow. Last year we had a bout a month of -40 at nights and highs of -20. Glad to hear you are still caching furs. Hope it don't get to cold out there. Jon
