Just found out that I have little under a year till my station closes and need to move out. I have moved 7 times in the same amount of time. Last one was 700 miles and now have two more kids and lots more stuff. Trying to deside if I want to stay or start applying for new jobs. My family realy likes were we are now but knew this day was coming. It's hard to wrap my head around and my wife isn't taking real good. Things have always worked out in the long run and I am not worried and tell her the same thing. We are lucky that we have only been here for 5 years and some of the others here have been here for a lot longer. Well if it's time to move on it's been a good run so far. Need to move out to move up has always been the saying in the fire world. Jon.

Well good luck in your decision making. Please stay in touch just cause you are moving does not mean you can't stay on here . My wife and I found out that we are unable to move to Ohio like we were planning due to money issues so now plans have changed again lol. anyway let us know where you are going and what you decide.

Talked with the big bosses and they told me I have a future here so looks like I will be sticking around. Been watching the housing market and looked at a few places off the mountain but still close so I can still play. Now just have to talk to banks. My wife and I would really like to stay somewhere close to were we are now but the houses and land are expensive so looking south about 30 mins down the road. It would put us in the middle so commuting to work won't be bad for either of us. IDMuskrat sorry bout your luck and not being able to move but I always tell the wife things work in the long run and for a reason. I start back to work on Monday so trying to find all my gear and get things squared away. I was a total garage sale last fall when I got off. Good luck out there. Jon.

That's good that you don't have to move. Any more it would be a major pain to pack up or get rid of everything I've accumulated over the last 20 years. Before we had the kids it only took a couple days to pack up and be on the road. Hope everything works for the best.
