Hi there! I am new to the forum (not a trapper but a novice taxidermist). I have a co-worker that was telling me about a predator (most likely a coyote) killing off most of her mom's chickens and ducks and was considering baiting the 'yote but my co-worker isn't sure that's a great idea...I was wondering if anyone here had any advice or could point me in the direction of someone who would be willing to help? Thanks in advance!

Welcome first off. You could try the Fish and Game office and ask about any Animal Damage Control guys around and who they would recommend if your co-worker didn't want to do it there self. Good luck and I hope this helps. Jon

I don't know if I'd be classed as an expert but my experience has been that if your predator is a fox or coyote, the chicken just comes up missing as in my case they carry them off. If it is a skunk that is getting into the coop, they have "dined in" and left body parts as evidence. In my case, once they have gotten a free meal, they'll be back for seconds - or as long as the freebie's hold out. A skunk can easily be caught in a foot hold or live trap. The fox or coyote will take a little more, but they can be caught. If their route to and from the chicken coop can be identified - a snare will catch them.
