Idaho Muskrat Populations?

Has anyone in Southern Idaho noticed a decline in muskrat populations? My father and several other trappers locally have told me that over time they have noticed a drastic decline in muskrats. Is this true where you trap as well? and what causes this?

That is true here also in VT. Numbers are way down from past years.
But the Mink population is booming here.
