I am going to lay some steel in the morning and can't wait. Got some beaver work to do and wanted to wait till it opened then get some K9 sets in while walking into the ponds. Been seeing some nice fluffed up fox while elk hunting last week so I am hoping. One other trapper up here is already catching fox and coyotes and said they were in good shape. Had all my traps and gear ready then a buddy brought me a doz coon traps and 18 new 155 for taking his dad hunting so need to get them ready tonight. I don't really like setting for beaver yet ( since we got lots of griz ) until the snow flies but this one area would be nasty getting to, and I want to get them caught and move to the next area. Good luck out there and hoping to get some pics up soon. Jon

Good luck to you and by all means, BE SAFE!! I have never seen a griz, and it is probably a good thing since the local PD call me to chance the black bears off around here all the time. I am the only foolish one they can find that will do it. Our season starts on Saturday Oct 25th and i am not even close to being ready. Thanks Dave

Nice! I started this last weekend with a few Duke DPs and connected on one. The big boar was in good condition and the hide was prime as far as I can tell. will know more when I get caught up on school work and can flesh and stretch him. jmack your from Idaho right? I thought beaver didn't open until the first here? If I am wrong I am sorry. was just wondering.

I am in the upper snake region so beaver, otter, rat, and mink start the 22nd. Marten starts nov 1 and wolf opens nov 15th. Don't have many coons here but there are a few. Going to try and find some this week. I just got a doz 1.5s that I still need to clean and dip. I got 4 sets in tonight for K9 and hoping to get a bunch out tomorrow. The fur I have seen so far looks good so I am hoping.

No worries the seasons and areas are always changing. It's hard to keep up with them.

Good luck on the cold. Got about twenty sets out ten K9 five Rat and five bottom sets for mink and maybe a coon or two. I have work till the end of the month then have three weeks off till I start my winter work, so I didn't go to far from home. Did find some rat sign real close and while setting for them my oldest daughter ( almost 6 ) and I watched a nice big mink swimming around. So it was a good day. Hope all of your chains are tight and kick that cold. Jon

Good luck with those coons. I will try and get some more out later this week. I have to go to mammoth tomorrow for work and won't be home till after dark so Friday I will have off and get a few more out. Hoping for some beaver here soon so I got fresh bait. Anyone here ever trap weasels ? My oldest wants to catch some and I never have really tried. Making a few boxes today with her.

He wanted to trap with Bumpy he calls me. So we made some weasel boxes and set them out by the stone wall. First i got him to catch some mice for bait to put in the boxes. I figured that would keep him busy. Tom checked them 10 times a day or more. Then wouldn't you know it he got a white one all by him self. What a blast we had right here at home even. Dave

Her is one of the ones i made. Found it easy for the kids to put bait in with out getting fingers pinched. One sheet rock screw for cover on one side in the middle so they could spin it out of the way by them self. Dave Attachments:
