Well been picking up a few beaver , mink, and rats but it's been slow. My trapping buddy has got three coons in the last couple days ( which is real odd, but we don't have much snow and it's been realy warm). Going to move my line this weekend to a new chunk of ground that's said to have lots of beaver and the owner told me to catch some of those %#>£_¥> wolves so hoping it works out. I am just hoping that since it's been realy warm the bears are still staying away. The new place is full of grizz during the spring and fall and since I check after work it's real dark out and I realy don't want to see one up close and in the dark. Thanks agin to Mr Sheldon on here for those setters( Onehandsetters) they work great. I caught a nice mink in one of my beaver sets ( don't realy know how he did it) but they were amazing. Hope you are all catching better than me. Jon.

Sorry all, been working around the clock with this snow storm that moved in Tuesday morning. Just got up from a 4 hour nap and I feel good!!! No traps out right now and I am missing Muzzle Loader Hunting, Not Happy, But Duty calls. You are more them Welcome Jon for the setters, I know you probably do not need them and do not take it the wrong way, I just thought that they would be handy for you at times and you would get to see them and how they work. They may make it easier for the younger ones when they are ready. At least you all are having fun!! Good Luck. Dave

Moving snow around sure is fun isn't it. I plow and run a big blower during the winter for a state park. Gets old real quick. Those setters sure make things faster and safer. I have had a few close calls trying to set the #5s in the snow. I missed archery season here for deer and elk then chased them with both rifle and muzzle loader and didn't see an elk I could shoot. Had a few chances at deer but passes them for elk. Hope you get some time to hunt and trap. Don't work to hard. Jon

Yup, Lots of fun. I am teaching a new guy to run the Highway sidewalk blowers so I do not have to so much. He is doing real well. We Have two of them, One is a Holder and the other is a Trackless. Both are around 100 HP with 4 foot blowers. One trip around takes 4 hours. I can load trucks faster then the Cat loader can with the blower and it comes out as a sold block when you dump. I want to retire and go play in the swamp!! Thanks Dave

Good luck teaching the new guys. I run a 9030 Ford Versatile with a 9 ft blower. Don't have a lot of miles to do but all the parking spots, visitor center, homes, and road from the highway to the park then up to the historic ranch. When I am not moving snow I am fixing everything that gets broke durning the Sumer. It's a good job for the winter time but I would rather be out hunting, fishing, trapping , or playing with the kids. I get to check traps in the morning most of the time so that part is ok. I still have a long way to go before I can even think about retiring so I keep trucking along. Jon

Sure is quiet out there. Hope everyone is to busy skinning to be on the computer. I got my line pulled yesterday and went out exploring today. Think I found the holy grounds for rats up in my neck of the woods. I was asked to trap beavers out of some water ways and could trap what ever I wanted. Took out mostly beaver traps and a few rat/ mink but going to haul in all my traps when I go back to check. So now I got a 20 mile round trip sled ride and hoping to pile up my pull behind. Good luck out there. Jon.

Work has been relentless on me so no traps out at this time. Fur prices are dropping fast from what I am seeing. Still undecided on shipping fur yet this year. May just leave them Vacuumed packed in the freezer for now. I do want to have some sent out and have tanned and this may be a good year to do that. Dave

Tanning most of mine except for the rats is the plan this time. My work is the same way this year. Got one guy out with a broke leg and the other main guy has been havering his back cut on so he is mostly out. Picked up two more rats today but worked my butt off for them. Both my truck and sled wouldn't start this morning then lost the pin in my pull behind while I was heading down the trail. Found the pin but bent up my hitch real good. I cobbled it together and got it home then I thought I would pack down the snow behind the house so it would be easier to get my wood inside( bad idea , buried my sled several times. I got it out walked into the house and just got my wet clothes off and my VFD fire pager goes off. Snowmobile fire way back on one if the trails. I was the only one with a sled so me and one other guy road out to find it. Lucky no one was hurt but the sled was totally melted by the time we got there. So I am beat now and ready for some rest. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and great new year with lots of tight chains. Jon

Picked up a few more rats and a good sized beaver in the last few checks but now all the water is frozen up. Got a real cold snap here so I pulled or snapped all my traps and going to wait till it warms up a little. The sled ride was mighty cold today and I had to stop a few times and put my hands inside the engine area to get some feeling back into them. Not fun at all. Just got a weather advisory for wind chills down to -20/-40 tonight. Going ice fishing tomorrow before one of out lakes closes for the season. So far this season I have 12 beaver, 24 rats, 9 mink, 4 coons, 1fox, 2 marten, and 2 skunks. Not like some of you guys numbers but this has been my best season so far and real happy with it. Got to take my kids with me a lot of the time and really enjoy having them with me. My oldest even came once on my snowmobile line and told momma that she had a great time. Jon

Thanks for posting my pics. Hopefully I can get my computer up and running. Been having a lot of fun with the kids being out with me. My oldest has been helping for the last couple seasons and realy likes the beaver and mink. The second kiddo will not give me back the mink or rats so I have to get them skinned quick and then she has to carry them around for awhile. I have a few tanned in the house and the rat, beaver, and mink go to bed with at leased one if them a night.
